Project Description

This project is created by the artist Viktorija Poposka, with a main aim affirmation of the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Ohrid UNESCO region, as well as the rich linguistic treasury, through author’s illustrations and creative slogans. Poraka Nova appears in this project as a partner producer, who will print the tourist cards from the illustrations, a product intended for sale that will be distributed through the first regularly employed street vendor Igor Shajnoski, a person with Down syndrome, a protégé of Poraka Nova .

Project Objectives

1.To enrich the tourist offer in Ohrid, Struga and the region, where the tourist can take home a quality and authentic local creative product in the form of a card, sticker, notebook.
2.To create cores of local collaborations that encourage resilience, solidarity, local engagement and equal economic opportunities, both for those on the margins and for the artist who is in a precarious position in our country.
3.To explore the beauty of the word, our Cyrillic heritage and the creative potential of the Macedonian language, to convey the unspeakable, to reach the core, to make a point. To explore clever, strange, unworn words and combinatorics that anew

Project Activities

– Short artistic residence of the illustrator and the author of texts; Within this stay of up to 5 days, the applicant will produce recycled paper on which the original illustrations will be painted in mixed media. During this one-day activity, other curious visitors will be able to get acquainted with the process of making recycled paper.

– Exhibition of small format illustrations;

– Designed a small range of products from the illustrations;

– First edition printing.

Project Outcomes

A small range of products designed from the illustrations themselves: ongoing during the month of May
– an edition of 5 different illustrated cards with motifs and text inspired by the UNESCO region
– edition of a series of self-adhesive stickers – with the motifs from the illustrations
– notebook design
