Social Inclusion

Program Info
Social Inclusion – Goal: Promoting and facilitating the active participation of underrepresented and marginalized communities in social structures, ensuring they are seen, heard, and valued.
Program Description
Overview:
The Social Inclusion program at Poraka Nova is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities, access, and active participation for marginalized and underrepresented communities. It focuses on dismantling systemic barriers and creating inclusive environments where all individuals—regardless of ability, background, or status—can thrive, contribute, and feel a sense of belonging.
Objectives:
-
To promote the full social, economic, and cultural participation of marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, women, and individuals facing social exclusion.
-
To advocate for equal rights and challenge discriminatory practices through awareness, education, and policy influence.
-
To empower individuals through services and opportunities that build independence, confidence, and self-reliance.
Key Activities:
-
Accessibility & Inclusion Audits: Supporting institutions and public spaces in improving physical and digital accessibility.
-
Advocacy & Legal Support: Promoting policy changes and providing assistance for individuals to access their legal rights.
-
Support Services: Organizing support groups, peer mentorship, and psychosocial counseling for individuals and families.
-
Community Engagement: Facilitating participatory workshops and campaigns that promote empathy, awareness, and social cohesion.
-
Inclusive Tourism & Social Participation: Developing and promoting accessible and inclusive tourism experiences as a tool for empowerment and visibility.
Impact:
Through this program, Poraka Nova fosters a more inclusive society by increasing visibility, access, and empowerment for individuals who are often excluded from mainstream systems. By working with communities, institutions, and policymakers, we help create environments where diversity is not only accepted but celebrated.
Our Work
Poraka Nova is a pioneer in Macedonia, and in the Balkan Region in promoting topics such as accessible tourism, inclusive tourism, senior tourism, social tourism, and responsible tourism.
We are the first and only organization from the Balkan Region which is a member of ENAT – the European Network for Accessible Tourism, and of ISTO – The International Social Tourism Organisation. We are spreading the list of collaborators in the field on national, regional, European and intercontinental levels, by implementing projects relevant to this program, and continuously organizing and attending seminars, courses, and fairs on the topic.
We are developing a business plan for funding a social enterprise for offering products and services for improving accessibility in the tourism sector in Southeast Europe. Our next goal is to obtain ISO standards for accessibility in tourism.
