Ready to explore Sweden, make friends from across Europe, and strengthen your leadership and citizenship skills?
Titled “The European Union and Youth Leadership,” this youth exchange will bring together young people from Sweden, Italy, Macedonia, Greece and Spain to dive into the themes of youth leadership and European citizenship—exploring how young people can be empowered to actively engage in democratic life and shape the future of Europe.

Poraka Nova is thrilled to invite young people from Macedonia to take part in this inspiring youth exchange in Höllviken, Sweden, from August 7–15, 2025, as part of the European Citizenship Academy (ECA) project.

European Citizenship Academy (ECA) project  is an European youth education project which aims to engage young people and youth organizations in the democratic process and society by offering training, developing exchanges and encouraging meetings, discussion and debate, to help them identify their link with the EU, its values and its democratic foundations, in a word to accompany them in becoming actively aware of their European citizenship.

About the exchange

The exchange “The European Union and Youth Leadership”, will explore youth leadership and European citizenship, focusing on how young people can be empowered to take an active role in democratic life. Together with peers from Sweden, Italy, Greece, Spain, and North Macedonia, participants will dive into topics such as:

  • The meaning and impact of EU citizenship
  • The role of youth in shaping Europe’s future
  • Leadership and active participation in local and EU-level decision-making
  • Developing communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Engaging in critical thinking and intercultural learning

This unique exchange will combine non-formal education methods, debates, workshops, outdoor activities, and cultural discovery to ensure a rich and inspiring learning experience.

Location

The exchange will be hosted in Höllviken, a coastal town near Malmö, known for its stunning white sandy beaches, Viking heritage, and vibrant youth culture. Participants will stay in cozy camping cottages, a popular youth holiday location, surrounded by nature and close to both the Baltic Sea and Öresund.

Who is applicable

We’re looking for motivated young people from Macedonia, aged 18+ who are:

  • Interested in topics like youth leadership, European citizenship, and active participation in democratic life.

  • Eager to connect with peers from across Europe.

  • Good communicating in English.

  • Open to non-formal learning methods, teamwork, and intercultural exchange

Previous experience in Erasmus+ youth exchanges is welcome but not required—we also encourage applications from those who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn and grow through international experiences.
For this exchange, we are looking to select 1 youth leader and 4 participants who will representing Poraka Nova, but also Macedonia as part of a diverse international group of young changemakers.
