As part of the Beyond Wheels project, a series of activities were successfully implemented during June with an aim to support adults with motor disabilities in designing employability, self-employment or entrepreneurship pathways aligned with their personal aspirations and potential.
One of the project’s key milestones were 6 online training session for facilitators, 3 online training session for people with locomotor disabilities and the International Workshop, held on 18–19 June, which brought together people with physical disabilities, representatives of organizations and institutions, experts, and other relevant stakeholders. Over the course of two days, participants exchanged experiences, discussed the challenges and opportunities related to inclusion, and explored innovative ways of the Life Map method. A special highlight of the workshop was the panel discussion, where representatives from various organizations and institutions addressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration, the development of accessible digital services, and the creation of policies that foster greater inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.
Following the successful workshop, the project continued with a series of Facilitators’ Training Sessions, designed to equip trainers, and facilitators with the knowledge and practical methods needed to support people with disabilities through innovative digital tools and educational approaches and how to create their Life Map. Participants explored inclusive non-formal education methodologies, accessible communication techniques, and practical applications of Artificial Intelligence, enabling them to deliver more engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
At the same time, training sessions for end users—people with physical disabilities—were organized to enhance their digital skills and confidence in creating their Life map and better understanding of the BW methodology.
What connected all these activities was a strong emphasis on practical learning, collaboration, and active participation. Beyond acquiring new digital competences, people with locomotor disabilities built valuable connections, exchanged ideas and experiences, and gained greater confidence continuing their BW journey from September on, when they will have sessions with dedicated facilitator in order to work on their Life map.
